White Rose opens new Nottingham store and shoppers say it's brilliant

A new second hand fashion store has opened in Nottingham city centre - but the name will be a familiar one to shoppers.

White Rose Outlet opened in Old Market Square earlier this week, on Monday November 8, in the building previously Dorothy Perkins.

The retailer now has a total of eight stores across Nottingham, Newark and Beeston.

The new store marks the biggest ever launch for White Rose and everything is under £10.

Lee Reynolds, Head of Retail at White Rose told Nottinghamshire Live the chain is keen on spreading the message of sustainability and recycled fashion.

Mr Reynolds said: “We tried our first outlet in Newark and that was a roaring success and that made it clear that we needed one in Nottingham.

“So far it’s been a commercial success.

“What you find here is lower priced items under £10 and bigger space with a lot more volume.

"The main message is fashion with a purpose - it sets us apart from vintage stores.

“We are using bigger space to educate the customers - we have messages around our stores so most people who come in for the price will go away educated by the impact of fast fashion.”

Shoppers at the new outlet store are loving the price and White Rose's message of sustainability and recycling fashion.

Jorja Foster, 20, a singer from Nottinghamshire, told Nottinghamshire Live that she thinks it’s good for its price but also the sustainability is good for the planet.

“It’s really good,” she said.

“There’s a lot in town - I suppose this one’s the outlet isn’t it.

“I saw something on the news about Nottingham wanting to become a sustainable city so that’s good.

“It’s a bargain - it’s nice for the bank and nice for the planet.”

Simon Winter, 46, a civil servant, from Nottinghamshire says his attitude towards second hand clothes has changed as it’s more acceptable now.

Mr Winter said: “I’ve just walked past and seen it - I thought I would have a quick look.

“There’s a lot more stuff in here than I thought actually.

“It’s a good idea, it’s using up an old building and recycling clothes.

“It’s a big thing now - it wasn’t when I was younger.

“But now, more younger people are doing it, it’s acceptable.

“Attitudes have changed towards recycling clothes, my attitude certainly has.”

Catherine Oliver, 20, who studies sports science at Nottingham Trent University and is from Lincolnshire, says she usually shops in White Rose and it's nice to have a bigger store.

“I’ve just seen it, I didn’t know it was open," she said.

“I like White Rose and I usually shop in White Rose anyway.

“I thought it looked good and it said £10 and under so I thought it was brilliant.

“It's good to have a really big white rose because they’re all really small so there’s a lot of choice here.

“There’s some good choices here - charity shopping is something I usually do.”
