White House pays Bray funeral home almost US$1M to rent out limos for Donald Trump's Ireland visit

A firm of undertakers in Bray has made almost ONE MILLION US dollars by renting out a fleet of limousines to the US Government for Donald Trump's Ireland visit.

The White House has shelled out a total of €830,896 (US $935,033) to JP Ward & Sons, a funeral home based in the Co Wicklow town for the service of four high-spec Mercedes E Class limousines.

Four separate payments of $458,871, $224,580, $134,532 and $117,050 were made to the family-run business according to USASpending.gov, an official US State website that records federal government spending.

It is understood that the payments were made on behalf of the Department of State by the United States Embassy in Dublin.

Two payments were made on 22 May 2019, while the remaining payments were made on 23 and 24 of May, all four limos have been rented for thirty days each, despite Trump's visit lasting just two days.

According to the JP Ward & Sons website, in recent years they have "heavily invested in state of the art" luxury Mercedes E Class limos.

Their range of cars include large seven seater limousines and smaller four passenger saloons.

A statement on their website says: "Your comfort and safety are our number one priority.

"All our vehicles are driven by professional, discreet and fully uniformed drivers."

It is not known who will travel in the cars or if the Bray firm will provide drivers on this occasion.

While visiting Doonbeg in Co Clare, Mr Trump will be transported in his own personal security car nicknamed 'The Beast'.

The US Embassy in Dublin and JP Ward and Sons have been contacted in relation to this story.
