
The White House has made a new offer of government stimulus for the US economy, as Democrat and Republican lawmakers continue to negotiate over the much-needed aid. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin outlined a package worth $918 billion, which includes direct payments of $600 to Americans, but not extending extra unemployment benefits that expired in July.
