White City security alert sees residents evacuated

The PSNI is at the scene of a security alert in North Belfast.

Part of Mulderg Drive in White City has been sealed off and some residents have been evacuated.

DUP Councillor Guy Spence said: "The community centre has been opened for residents affected by this.

"The police and ATO aim to have this situation resolved as soon as possible."

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Police are currently at the scene of a security alert on the Mulderg Drive area of North Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious device in the area this afternoon (Thursday, 30 January).

"A small number of homes have been evacuated, while part of Mulderg Drive and Gunnell Hill have been cordoned off. There are no further details at this time."
