Whitchurch teen Ella Gibbons missing for 24 hours as mum launches appeal

A mum has launched an appeal to find her 16-year-old daughter who has not been seen for almost 24 hours.

Ella Gibbons was last spotted in Whitchurch at 11:30pm on Sunday (August 24). Since then, her mobile phone has been switched off and no one has heard from her.

Mum Kelly Jones said this is completely out of character and she is extremely worried about her daughter's safety.

"She's 16, I just want her to come home," said Kelly, aged 40. "She's never gone missing before. I just want her to ring me or ring a friend - just let us know you are OK."

Her friends are also joining in the search, one posted on Facebook saying: "This is very out of character for Ella as she isn’t one to go out on her own especially not at that time of night.

"We are all worried sick and just want her home safe."

Ella was last seen wearing a black jumper, denim jacket and white Nike trainers. She is around 5’5” tall with long brown hair.

Avon and Somerset Police has now launched an investigation.

A force spokesman said: "I can confirm she has been reported as missing and we are making enquiries.

"If anyone has information, then they can call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5220191733."
