The community centre in Whitchurch has undergone a 550k renovation project and will reopen to the public once more following a five-month closure for its face-lift.

The transformation saw the old dilapidated building bulldozed to make way for some contemporary additions. The new building, run by the Community Association, will contain two new large halls, one with multi-use capacity as well as a private outdoor area and a small car park.

Members of the public will be invited to see the new facilities on 3 July and an official launch date is due to be announced.

Winston Griffiths from the Community Association said:

"We have been waiting many years for the new building and the Community Association is very pleased that the new facility will benefit the whole community."

Nigel Howells, executive member for sport, leisure and culture, said:

"We are delighted to be able to provide the community with a much improved building and hope that they will make good use of the facility for many years to come."
