While Team GB keeps winning, ITV falls behind

None of the BBC's rivals quite expected the Beijing Olympics to be so compelling. ITV, in particular, is privately rueing the fact its August schedule is so weak, especially at 9pm, where its latest new drama, Harley Street, has flopped. While BBC1's New Tricks has been making hay. "New Tricks is really an ITV show," lamented ITV commercial director Rupert Howell, at the ITV2 autumn season launch last night. ITV1 will be hoping to bounce back when it holds its annual extravagant autumn launch and dinner for advertisers at The Roundhouse in Camden on September 25, where they will enjoy live entertainment from the broadcaster's stars. Hopefully that will help to raise spirits.
