Which years will be first to go back to school under new plan

Schools in England will reopen to certain year groups first, with others being asked to stay home, under new plans reportedly under consideration by the Government.

The proposals state that primary schools should reopen first as they face the greatest difficulty delivering education remotely.

In Secondary schools, year groups facing exams in 2021 would be the first to go back to face-to-face learning.

The Government is said to be looking at 'all options' to reopen schools and a source is reported to have said schools will be 'the first' thing to reopen when lockdown is eased, The Sun reports.

The paper went on to say that the final decision lay with scientists and depended on the Covid infection rate as well as hospitalisations and deaths.

An option reportedly being explored is to reopen schools for primary school children first as it is harder for them to work from home using Zoom.

The Department for Education is also said to be considering partially reopening secondary schools so that children in Year 10 and Year 12 - who have exams to sit - go back first.
