Which type of personality does your child belong to?

Every child is different in their own way. They have a unique vision, a way to perceive the world. But while each child is special, they may hold abilities, characters that categorize them to a set personality type. According to Hippocrates, a Greek physician, a child's personality may be divided into four broad types. Read on to find out what they are and find out if your child fits into any.

Choleric

Children belonging to this personality type are competitive, opinionated, adventurous and highly ambitious. They are determined and strong willed and know what they want in life. They may be withdrawn socially, but they know when to raise their voices. Since they are passionate about their goals, they'll make sure to achieve their desired goals even at a young age.

Sanguine

Kids with a Sanguine personality are fun loving, creative, love to imagine, and are extroverted. They lead an optimistic life and have a positive approach towards everything. They're hard to break, but may get bored easily if they have nothing to deviate their minds with.

Melancholic

If your child is very careful about his or her decisions, has an eye for details and is very disciplined, then they may fit into this category of personality. Children with melancholic personality types are not the kind who'd take risks. They go by the book and love to stay in their comfort zone.

Phlegmatic

Children of Phlegmatic personality type are thoughtful and attentive. They're not the kind to make rash decisions, are clear in the head and are very trustworthy. Most importantly, they're very helpful and avoid conflicts.

Why do personality types matter?

Understanding your child's personality type is important as it helps you decipher more about them. If you have more than one child, you may feel the urge to deal with them the same way. However, not everyone is the same. Children think, act and behave differently and parents must find a way to manage them differently. Knowing which personality type your child belongs to may help you fashion your parenting technique accordingly. This ensures productive parenting, while also helping your children greatly.
