The three-tier approach will see 99 per cent of the country - some 55 million people - placed into Tier 3 and Tier 2, the two highest levels of restrictions.
Large swathes of the Midlands, North East and North West are in the most restrictive band, while the majority of authorities – including London – will be in Tier 2, which will cover 57.3 per cent of the country, or 32 million people.
Only the Isle of Wight, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly were placed under the lightest measures, under Tier 1.

London will be put into Tier 2 once lockdown ends.
It means Londoners will be banned from mixing households indoors and the rule of six will apply outdoors.
All retail, leisure and personal care services, such as hairdressers and beauty salons, will be allowed to reopen after the national lockdown ends.
