Which Tier is Leeds in?

Boris Johnson has announced that the national lockdown will end on December 2 and be replaced by a new and tougher three-tier system as part of a new "Covid Winter Plan."

The tiers will be decided based on local infection rates and pressures on the NHS. Areas may move into a higher tier than they were in pre-lockdown, meaning harsher restrictions.

Leeds is part of West Yorkshire which was previously facing Tier 3 restrictions before the national lockdown was introduced at the start of November.

However, Prime Minister has not yet outlined which tier each region will be in.

It is suggested that to avoid confusion whole regions will be placed in the same tier, rather than individual towns and cities.

Therefore, West Yorkshire could be treated as a full region and with high rates of infection in Leeds there are fears that it could be Tier 3 for West Yorkshire.

Local authorities will be informed of which tier they will fall into on Thursday, November 26 following meetings with government officials and local leaders.

The tiers will be decided based on five different criteria which are outlined here.

We will update this article as soon as the Tiers for each area are announced.
