Which team in the AFC West is the Broncos’ biggest rival in 2019?

The AFC West division dates all the way back to 1960 and the AFL days. During that time, four teams have battled back and forth for supremacy.

The Denver Broncos have had a bitter rivalry with each of these teams, but the battle for best in the division is a lot closer than many might like to admit. take the fact that the Broncos, Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers are tied for the most division titles with 15.

We recently discussed who the Broncos biggest rival is outside of the AFC West. Considering the 2019 season only, which AFC West team is currently Denver’s biggest rival?

It’s hard to argue that the Raiders won’t always be the most hated rival and for many Broncos fans, the Chargers seem to be the most tolerable divisional rival. But shouldn’t the biggest rival be the reigning champion?

The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West last season and came awfully close to representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. But what makes them the biggest rival going into this year is the Monday Night Football game the two teams played in Denver last year.

The game took place in Week 4 and the Broncos should have been the team to put the first blemish on Kansas City’s record. Instead, between some magic worked by Patrick Mahomes and Case Keenum air-mailing a pass over the head of Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos were instead losers.

On top of that, the Chiefs have won the last seven meetings against the Broncos. The last time Denver beat Kansas City was all the way back on September 17, 2015.

Those factors make the answer to this question easy. The Chiefs are the Broncos’ biggest rival in the AFC West going into the 2019 season.
