With Christmas just around the corner, many workers will be looking forward to a few days off as the bank holidays stack up.
Everyone wants to make the most of their annual leave, so here's how to get the most bang for your buck in 2023. Using this simple annual leave hack, you can triple your time off around Christmas while only using up seven days of your annual leave. So, if you're hoping to say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024 away from work, use these tips from Frank Recruitment Group.
If you book off the remaining three days following Christmas Day (Monday, December 25) and Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26), as well as the Tuesday to Friday following New Year (Monday, January 1), you can enjoy 16 days off work for the price of just seven holiday days.

If you book those days off, you'll be off work from Saturday 24 December all the way through to Sunday 8 January, a full 16 days of no work. For people in Scotland, you can achieve the same thing with just six days of annual leave, because 2 January is a bank holiday there as well.
You can also take advantage of bank holidays earlier in the year, with a 16 day break from work from just eight days of annual leave booked off at Easter 2023. If you take off the Monday to Thursday before Good Friday (Friday, April 7) and the remainder of the week following Easter Monday (Monday, April 10), you can enjoy 16 days off work.
If you want to plan even further ahead, you can do the same thing in 2024 for another 16 days off for the price of eight holiday days.
Zoë Morris, President of Frank Recruitment Group, said: "Employee wellbeing is an imperative part of a successful workforce, and ensuring a healthy work-life balance goes a long way in helping businesses to achieve that. Holidays allow employees time to de-stress, unwind and relax away from the hustle and bustle that working life can generate.

“Employers should do more to encourage a healthier balance, for example by actively promoting the importance of having time to switch off from work. Simple acts such as sending out an email reminder for employees to use their annual leave, or having managers openly discuss the benefits of using holidays even if it’s just to spend some time at home relaxing, can go a long way towards achieving this, as it communicates to employees that your business recognizes how essential this can be to their wellbeing.
“By having the option of taking prolonged spells away from work using these holiday hacks, whether during the summer or around Easter, it presents the opportunity for employees to recharge their batteries throughout the year, without using up as much of their annual allowance.”
