Which popstars would you like to drink?

Hip-hop folklore holds that Notorious BIG was the first rapper to reference Cristal in a lyric. However after Cristal maker Louis Roederer made some elitist comments about rap's affiliation with the brand, Jay Z called for a boycott of the drink. He removed all references to the beverage from his lyrics during live performances and left bottles of the bubbly undrunk and unopened at events. Since that time there's been a bottle-shaped space in the market for a replacement. Sadly, it's not going to be filled by Jack Donaghy's special brew.

Could Dr Dre be about to bring his Midas touch to the hip-hop drinks industry?

In a clever marketing ploy (his new album is rumoured to be called 'Detox') Dr Dre is set to launch his own range of hooch called Aftermath Cognac. But the firewater-like 80% proof (40% by volume) sparkling vodka might have to compete with young upstart Lil' Wayne's own brand of booze. Sadly, we might have to wait some time before he brings out his own range of pharmaceutically enhanced Purple Drank.

Instead his own make of Champagne is forthcoming, which keen-eyed YouTube viewers might have seen bottles of in his video for Lollipop. There are four different flavours of Weezy-infused champers. The most intriguing of which is called Halo Pinnacle. And, in the accompanying press blurb, it's described as tasting like "Lime Tree flowers and roasted hazelnuts". Take that Kanye and Jay-Z - apparently Wayne's new team features Jilly Goolden.

While we ponder the relationship between hip hop and booze, we can't help thinking back to "Slim Fast Shady" - Eminem's so-good-it-must-be-made-up version of the diet shake would have been amazing, if only for the name. And who could forget Madonna's Confessions wine range?

Surely, Amy Winehouse's Camden Pride bitter is only a sniff away. As must be Rufus Wainwright's homemade Cabernet Sauvignon or Bruce Springsteen's low-cal brewskis?

So put that pint glass down and tell us who else would make a good booze range...
