Which parts of the UK will be the hottest this week - as temperatures soar into 30s

As temperatures soar across large parts of the UK this week, some areas are feeling the heat more than others.

The mercury is set to climb to 30C in parts of the UK today, with the possibility southern and eastern parts of England could see maximum highs of 33C.

The scorching temperatures will drop slightly for some this week ahead of a Met Office Amber weather warning for extreme heat that is set to come into effect for Sunday and Monday.

As the temperatures sizzle, an analysis of forecasts across Britain found the hottest and coolest towns this week.

Expected temperatures were recorded from Weather.com and the results were then analysed.

London and Essex, both with an average temperature of 29 degrees, were set to be the warmest places in the UK this week.

The forecasted temperatures look to make them hotter than Istanbul, Santorini, Tenerife and Mexico over the same time period.

London and Essex are both estimated to reach 34 degrees this Sunday, which would make it one of the hottest days of the year, the analysis from Pink Storage found.

If the mercury does shoot up to 34C, this would make it hotter than holiday destinations such as Malaga, Ibiza, Barcelona, Venice, Hawaii, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff are all expected to have an average temperature of 26-27 degrees this week, with Sunday also being the hottest day for people living in these regions.

Newcastle, Liverpool, Belfast, Glasgow and Blackpool on average were the coolest places to live with an average weekly temperature of 20-23 degrees.

According to the data from Weather.com, the hottest days of the week will be Monday the 11th, Tuesday the 12th and Sunday the 17th of July.

As temperatures have started to climb, frustrated Brits have taken to social media to air their concerns.

One user said: "it's 28°C in Scotland??? Bruv you're supposed to be the opposite, I'm boiling to death."

While others have taken to social media to give tips for pet owners during this time.

One Twitter user has said, "Remember, if the floor is too hot for you to hold your hand on it, then it is too hot for your dog to walk on it."

Depending on where you live, the current heatwave will end tomorrow or Thursday before picking back up again this weekend - giving many a much-need respite.

However, for some in the South East they will be a week-long prolonged heatwave

The Met Office describes a heatwave when a specific temperature threshold is met for three or more days.

The Met Office issued an amber weather warning for extreme heat across parts of the UK ahead of further soaring temperatures this week.

The rare warning states there could be a danger to life or potentially serious illness as a result of the scorching temperatures.

Other issues could include road closures and delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

The Met Office says the blistering temperatures on Sunday could see the UK record its hottest ever day.
