Iceland has said that it will be closing two supermarkets this summer, despite an earlier announcement that it would expand in the UK.
The latest closures mean that the frozen food retailer will have shut over 20 stores since the beginning of 2023.
Over 13,000 high street shops closed last year, with dozens more closures underway this year.
Morrisons closed 16 stores in April and another is set to close this month. The Haxby branch in Yorkshire will close on May 14.

- The Margate: College Square branch is closing on June 21
- The Inverness: Rose Street is closing on July 12
Iceland has not specified why these two will be closing but has disclosed some information about what will happen next.
A statement explained that staff working at the Margate branch “have entered into a consultation process and have been offered opportunities at surrounding stores where possible.” It said that this will also happen for store colleagues at the Inverness branch.
About 20 staff will be affected by the Inverness closure, according to the BBC.
Customers at the Inverness branch had reportedly complained about parking charges and fines given by a third-party car park operator, according to The Press and Journal.
