When Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds first launched in 2025, it shattered the mold of traditional SEGA kart racers. By introducing the CrossWorlds mechanic, in which reality shifts mid-action, the game paved the way for a roster spanning the entire SEGA multiverse.
The game already features heavy hitters like Sonic, Shadow, and Sage, alongside staggering guest stars like Hatsune Miku and Joker. However, the community wants more since it seems that SEGA is open to collaboration.
The publisher also has a lot of franchises and characters that don’t get much attention in the modern world. Here are some of those characters that would flawlessly fit the chaotic, high-speed vibe of CrossWorlds.
Sticks The Badger (Sonic Boom)

While the Sonic Boom universe exists in its own pocket of the franchise, Sticks the Badger has slowly become a fan favorite whose inclusion in CrossWorlds feels like a natural evolution. Famous for her paranoid survivalist instincts and wild energy, Sticks brings a berserk personality that matches the game’s erratic track shifts.
In a game where the world literally warps around you, a character who constantly expects the unforeseen is a perfect fit. Gameplay-wise, she could be a “Handling” or “Acceleration” class racer, using a junk-yard aesthetic for her vehicle. Fans have pointed out that her boomerang gadgets could turn into distinct defensive items, a perfect choice for players who prefer a chaotic flair.
Surge The Tenrec (IDW Comics)

As Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds already features characters like Tangle and Whisper, there’s quite a lot of demand for their rival, Surger the Tenrec. Surge showcases the anti-Sonic archetype for the modern era, but with an electric edge that fits the Speed class perfectly.
Surge’s integration would serve the game’s vibe of high-intensity, offensive racing. Just imagine Surge swerving through the neon-lit streets of a Persona-themed track or a classic SEGA arcade world, leaving a trail of her green electricity behind.
Her aggressive personality and “Power” secondary traits would make her a good choice for competitive racers. She isn’t just another speedster, but a destructive force aligning with the game’s frenzy and rewarding experience.
Mighty the Armadillo (Sega 32X / Mania)

For the “old-school” fans in the community, Mighty the Armadillo is the ultimate deep cut that closes the gap between the Classic and Modern eras. While he made a surprising return in Sonic Mania Plus, he still hasn’t taken the wheel in a modern 3D racer like CrossWorlds.
His vehicle design could be rugged, capable of taking hits from items that would spin out lighter racers. Adding Mighty would provide a reliable option for high-level Grand Prix play, all while satisfying players looking for some nostalgia.
Mighty is the prime candidate for the “Power” class, due to his signature ability: near-invulnerability and insane physical strength. In a game where “Monster Truck” gadget modes and physical collisions play a great role in victory, he would be a defensive powerhouse.
Honey The Cat (Sonic The Fighters)

Honey the Cat is perhaps the deepest cut available, originating from the 1996 arcade title Sonic the Fighters, but it remained widely ignored until recent years. Her background story as a fashion designer gives SEGA the perfect opportunity to lean into the game’s intense customization systems.
Honey would fit the Acceleration or Boost class, focusing on flair and style. Given that the game already has stylish icons like Hatsune Miku, Honey’s inclusion would further extend the game’s wacky aesthetic. We suggest that her integration could come alongside a “boutique” update, introducing new visual parts and decals for the karts.
As CrossWorlds aims to maintain the arcade vibe, Honey’s character would be a suitable choice, offering an energetic alternative to the more aggressive characters on the roster.
Mephiles The Dark (Sonic ’06)

Although the game already features villains like Zavok and Metal Sonic, players have always manifested a more menacing antagonist. Mephiles the Dark, the mastermind from the 2006 title, has a design that is tailor-made for the new consoles like Switch 2 and PS5.
His addition fits the “CrossWorlds” theme seamlessly, as a being who exists across time and space, warping between dimensions. Adding to this, as a “Handling” specialist, he could make use of shadow-based gadgets to phase through obstacles effortlessly.
His return would be an important event for the lore-focused side of the community. It will also prove that even the franchise’s most isolating chapters can find a home in this rejoicing racing title.
