Which countries are on the red list now? Latest as travel rules change today

There are just seven nations now on the UK's red list after 47 countries were removed this morning.

Travel between the UK and dozens of long-haul destinations such as Mexico and South Africa has opened up from 4am today (October 11).

Forty-seven countries in total have been removed from the red list, meaning arrivals from those locations will no longer need to spend 11 nights in a quarantine hotel, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) lifted its advice against non-essential travel to a further 42 countries and territories due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just seven countries remain on the red list - Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

But there are still some countries and holiday destinations who do not want UK travellers - with all-out bans in place or restrictive rules for arrivals from the UK, reports BirminghamLive.

These are:

Bulgaria - Bulgaria has announced that the UK is now on its own red list.

Luxembourg - No non-essential travel permitted.

Russia - Blanket ban on foreign travellers.

Slovakia - No non-essential travel permitted.

Sweden - Brits must give proof of negative test and be exempt from their travel ban.

The United States - from November, UK travellers can enter the US provided they are fully vaccinated and can show proof of a negative test no older than 87 hours before departure.
