Three Bears players fighting for a roster spot in Saturday’s preseason finale at the Titans:
1. Cornerback Artie Burns. It’s easy to forget about Burns, the Steelers’ former first-round pick who tore his ACL during last year’s training camp. But he could have the inside track on the Bears’ final cornerback spot — though the team could trawl for veterans released around the league on cut day.
2. Quarterback Nick Foles. He’s contending for a job — but on whose team? After throwing only three exhibition passes this month, he’ll play the entire second half. The Bears hope Foles puts enough on film to entice a team to trade for him. It’s unlikely the Bears cut him — he’s cheaper to keep than to release.
3. Receiver Rodney Adams. The camp superstar has played well enough to earn the last receiver spot on the roster — he’s second in the NFL in receiving yards. But he lacks a traditional pedigree; he turns 27 next month and the next regular season catch he makes will be his first. Put one more impressive game on tape, though, and the Bears might have no choice but to retain him.
