Which 2020 Shrine Bowl prospects did the Dolphins meet with this week?

The Miami Dolphins were among the NFL teams to boast a large group of scouts and personnel men at this week’s East/West Shrine Bowl in St. Petersburg, Florida. The event, which is the longest running football all-star game in the country, serves as the first domino on the path to the NFL Draft — with the Shrine offering smaller school prospects and lower level Power 5 prospects a chance to bump pads for a week under the direction of assistant coaches from across the league.

This year’s Shrine event doesn’t necessarily have the most potent NFL Draft talent, but it does have plenty of developmental players who Miami may identify and prioritize in the upcoming draft.

Who is on their radar? Trevor Sikkema of The Draft Network released a meetings tracker for all 32 NFL teams to document which teams were confirmed to have met with which prospects.

Here is who the Dolphins were listed as confirmed to have met with:

  • RB Rico Dowdle, South Carolina
  • WR Binjimen Victor, Ohio State
  • WR Jordan McCray, Oklahoma State
  • IOL Kevin Dotson, Louisiana
  • IDL Tershawn Wharton, Missouri S&T
  • EDGE Michael Danna, Michigan
  • EDGE LaDarius Hamilton, North Texas

The trenches are going to be an area of emphasis for the team this offseason — it is good to know Miami has begun the process of kicking the tires on any and all candidates that could possibly step in and provide Miami with better pass protection and better pass rush. Michigan’s Mike Danna had a strong week of practice and illustrated some first step quickness that may well be of use to the Dolphins. Of the players listed here, he’s probably the most logical fit for the Dolphins’ roster upgrades this offseason.

The Dolphins will boast an even larger group of scouts next week for the Reese’s Senior Bowl, which serves annually as the first major event of the Draft process.
