Where you'll be able to get a half-price meal in August

Throughout August people across the UK will be able to bag themselves a half-price meal in a restaurant thanks to the new Eat Out to Help Out deal announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Anyone eating in a registered restaurant or cafe on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday throughout August will get 50 per cent off their meal - up to £10 per head.

You don't need to get hold of vouchers or make a claim - the registered venue will instantly make the discount for you and claim the cash back from the Government.

The offer does not include alcohol or takeaways, reports The Mirror, but it will cover food served in pubs, cafes, canteens and other venues.

The following major chains have already registered to take part:

  • All Bar One - It won't work on alcohol, but if you're grabbing food or a soft drink you can get 50% off up to £10 a person, after the chain's owner said it would be taking part
  • Browns - The same rules apply at Brown's, which is also owned by Mitchells & Butlers. Food and soft drinks will be half price, Monday to Wednesday, in August up to £10 a head
  • Burger King - Burger King boss Alasdair Murdoch said that the chain will be signing up almost as soon as the scheme was announced. Speaking on the BBC's Coronavirus Newscast podcast, he said: "We’ll certainly be embracing it, as long as we can understand the terms and conditions and work them out.
  • Frankie & Benny's - The American-Italian chain told The Sun it will be knocking 50% off the bill (up to £10 each) in August
  • Harvester - Mitchells & Butlers, the firm behind Harvester, said it's planning on registering with the scheme in the summer
  • Nando's - People ordering in at Portuguese chicken chain will be able to get their peri-peri fix half-price too, after Nando's said it would be registering.
  • Pizza Hut - Pizza Hut has said it's getting involved, and will have more than 100 restaurants open again for dine in customers over the next week too.
  • Prezzo - Prezzo confirmed to Mirror Money it's planning to get involved too.
  • Toby Carvery - Another brand run by Mitchells & Butlers, Toby Carvery will also be offering customers 50% off food (up to £10 a head) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August.
  • Wagamama - No surprises here with the Chancellor himself spotted helping serve Waga's customers shortly after making the announcement
