Where will Piers Morgan go next after quitting Good Morning Britain over apology?

Piers Morgan has left the building!

The explosive Meghan and Harry interview certainly got the country - indeed the world - talking, but for Piers Morgan it brought about the end of his six-year stint as host of ITV's Good Morning Britain.

The 55-year-old has never been one to shy away from voicing his opinion, but his latest comments about Meghan Markle quickly spiralled with 41,000 people complaining about his views to media regulator Ofcom.

The presenter had an on-screen war of words with Alex Beresford on Tuesday with the pair's disagreement leading to Piers storming off the set.

The day's events came to an end with Piers resigning from his duties with immediate effect and the news certainly divided the opinion of viewers as it broke.

While the rumour mill frantically spat out names such as Jeremy Clarkson as to who could replace the now-former GMB host, what lies in wait for the man himself?

It was announced last year that a Rupert Murdoch venture called News UK TV had received the go-ahead by Ofcom to start broadcasting whenever it is ready.

In December, it was reported that viewers can expect big-name presenters on the channel, with Piers' name linked alongside the likes of The Apprentice host - and his frenemy - Lord Sugar.

He had even been spotted in the company's headquarters, where the studio will be.

Another new channel that's being backed by Scottish journalist Andrew Neil could be a potential destination.

GB News revealed its all-male team for political coverage for the new round-the-clock news channel, but could Piers join the presenting team alongside Dan Wootton?

One place it's highly unlikely he'll end up is alongside Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast.

The pair have often embraced in back and forth digs on social media and the news of Piers' departure led to the BBC presenter cheekily offering him a space on the show.

He tweeted directly to Piers: "Sorry to hear the news about your departure from GMB @piersmorgan If you’d like to come on the UK’s number 1 breakfast show to talk about it... we could make some space for you in the morning."

While it's all up in the air, these are just a few of the several options being thrown about.

One thing is clear though and that is that the outspoken presenter won't be short of offers.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
