Where was the hottest place in Wales on Easter Saturday and how long is it going to last

Wales was an incredible 12 degrees warmer than average for the times of year on Easter Saturday.

On Good Friday the warmest place in Wales according to the Met Office was Gogerddan near Aberystwyth reached 24C.

The temperatures are measured at weather stations dotted all around Wales and on Easter Saturday that title was taken by the weather station at Usk which reached 23.7C.

The reason for the unseasonably warm weather according to the Met Office is that the jet stream, a narrow band of fast flowing air which usually marks the boundary the north and warmer air to south, is above Wales

At the moment it is above Wales keeping all the chilly northern air away from us.

Added to this is lots of warm air coming up from the continent.

This is how warm other places in Wales reached yesterday:

Cardiff - 23.6C

Swansea -  19.7C

Anglesey - 23.3C

Aberystwyth - 21.1C

Tredegar - 21.4C

The coldest place was Pembrey Sands which only reached a high of 18.2C.

Despite the warm weather the Met Office has said that it is still very cold in some places at night.

A Met Offices Spokesman said: "When the sun goes down it is still reaching some very low temperatures in certain places.

"Sennybridge for instance went as low as 0.7C."

How long is it going to last?

According to the Met Office bank holiday Monday is set to have more hot weather but things will start to shift on Tuesday.

The spokesman said: "Tuesday there may be some isolated showers but on Wednesday we will be seeing some heavy rain and colder temperatures.

"We may have to issue some weather warnings for storms and heavy rain."
