World Cup 2026 continues on Wednesday as England kick off their campaign, after Portugal take on DR Congo.
Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew will then look to get Ghana off on the right foot, before debutants Uzbekistan take on a much-fancied Colombia side lead by in-form attacker Luis Dias.
How to watch World Cup games today
Portugal vs DR Congo
Kick-off: 6pm BST
Portugal will get the ball rolling in Group K this evening, facing DR Congo in Houston. The World Cup is the one major international tournament that continues escape Cristiano Ronaldo's clutches having lifted the European Championships in 2016, and of course, the Nations League on two occasions.
At 41 years of age, this is likely to be Ronaldo's final World Cup and he will have been watching closely as his rivals for the Golden Boot all got off to a flying start.
This is arguably the most talented and balanced squad Portugal have ever had, but can Roberto Martinez ensure this golden generation gets the job done on football’s biggest stage?
DR Congo, meanwhile, are competing at a World Cup for the first time since 1974 when they were known as Zaire.
Certainly the underdogs ahead of the opening game, but having beaten Cameroon, Nigeria and Jamaica in qualification, they should not be taken lightly, especially with Premier League experience in the ranks.

England vs Croatia
Kick-off: 9pm BST
England's quest to end 60 years of pain begins tonight as they take on a familiar foe in Croatia.
Preparations for the Group L opener have been disrupted with Tino Livramento forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury. The full-back has since been replaced by Trevoh Chalobah, but the Chelsea defender will not be available for selection in Arlington, Texas.
Much has been made of the squad Thomas Tuchel has selected, so there is slight pressure for the Three Lions to get off to a fast start.
As for Croatia, this feels like the final tournament for the old guard; Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and Mateo Kovacic all featured in the 2018 semi-final win over England and will be looking to dish out more misery tonight.

Ghana vs Panama
Kick-off: 12am BST
It has been far from plain sailing for Ghana despite a dominant qualification campaign. There has been a change of manager, while Thomas Partey will miss the opening game after being denied a visa.
Facing Panama - the weakest team in the group - the Black Stars should be aware that a win is key to any chance of progressing to the knockout phase, otherwise it will be a tough ask to get results against England and Croatia.
It is a second World Cup appearance in eight years for Panama, they failed to get out of the group in Russia, scoring twice and conceding 11 goals.

Uzbekistan vs Colombia
Kick-off: 3am BST
Uzbekistan are the last of the four nations competing in their first World Cup and will surely have been inspired by fellow debutant Cape Verde's 0-0 draw with Spain.
They will have their hands cut out to get a result though as Colombia have Luis Diaz, fresh off a superb scoring season for Bayern Munich, in attack.
