We’re just one week (I repeat, ONE WEEK!) out from the release of Taylor Swift’s new album The Life of a Showgirl, and while we’ll obviously be feverishly devouring it in our headphones, the album is also getting the big screen treatment.
That’s right, Swift is continuing her world domination with a visual accompaniment to her album titled The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which will coincide with the record dropping on October 3.
I know what you’re thinking: this cinematic event is surely reserved for theatres in the US, right? Wrong! Swift has booked the movie for over 8,000 cinemas across more than 50 countries (such is her influence), with a host of dates slated for select Aussie theatres early next month.
What is The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is billed as a cinematic event celebrating the release of Swift’s namesake album — her 12th (!) overall — with the promise of exclusive content like the debut of the music video for album track “The Fate of Ophelia” and brand spankin’ new lyric videos.
The 89-minute experience will also include BTS footage from music video shoots and never-before-seen reflections from Swift herself. “I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée,” the pop star wrote when announcing the cinema event on Instagram.
“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan … Dancing is optional but very much encouraged,” she added. From your lips to god’s ears, Tay!
When does The Official Release Party of a Showgirl land in Australia?

Mark your calendars, Swifties: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl lands in Aussie cinemas on Saturday, October 4, just hours after the album arrives.
There are early morning screenings in Australian theatres on Saturday, but The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is a three-day event with additional showing all across the country on Sunday, October 5 and Monday, October 6.
For those doing the maths, that coincides with the long weekend for NSW, South Australia, Queensland and the ACT (Taylor, the mastermind you are!), so there’s even room for a repeat watch if your Swift thirst ain’t quenched.
