Where to watch Judas and the Black Messiah on UK TV

American biographical Judas and the Black Messiah finds itself in the running for Best Picture at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards this weekend.

The film explores the real-life story of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers in the late-1960s.

A biopic on Hampton is said to have been in the works for a number of years, but the focus of Judas and the Black Messiah focuses specifically on his relationship with police informant Bill O'Neal.

Arrested after an attempted carjacking, he is approached by Special Agent Roy Mitchell who offers to drop the charges on the condition he infiltrates the Panthers and feeds information back to the FBI.

Judas and the Black Messiah stars Daniel Kaluuya the lead role. The London-born actor seems to have something of a Midas touch when it comes to the projects he works on.

His performance in 2017 Jordan Peele hit Get Out launched him into the mainstream and his role in Judas and the Black Messiah has already earned him a Golden Globe, Critics' Choice and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Review aggregator RottenTomatoes gives the film a 95% rating from 314 critic reviews.
