Fortnite’s penultimate week of Season 7 is upon us. Week 9 brings a whole bunch of interesting challenges with it, from X-4 Stormwing timed trials to another dancing progressive challenge. The new Marshmello challenges have also gone live in anticipation of this weekend’s special concert.
One of the trickier challenges this week tasks players with popping ten golden balloons which you can now find scattered across the map. In this guide, we’ll help you discover where to pop all 10 (and then some.)

The balloons are golden as described, and hang just above the ground on a string. They’re not terribly hard to spot but they’re not that easy to find either, especially if you don’t know where to look.
Here’s the map of every golden balloon location we’ve found so far:
Golden Balloon Locations:
- East of Paradise Palms
- By the fort north of Wailing Woods
- On an electric tower near the shipping yard
- Near the river to the northeast of Lazy Links
- Southwest of Lucky Landing
- West of Happy Hamlet in the hills
- On the Motel sign
- In the middle of Dusty Divot
- In Haunted Hills
- On the windmill in Fatal Fields
- By Frosty Flights on the sign outside the hangars
- Southeast of Retail Row
Important note: The balloons will pop and disappear if another player pops them first. In other words, you might show up to these locations to find . . . nothing at all. This isn’t like some other challenges that are unique for each player. It’s a race to see who can pop balloons the fastest.
So this one might take some time since you could travel to any one of these locations and still leave empty-handed. That’s a bummer but also kind of fun. It makes it more challenging which, I suppose, is the point.
Complete the challenge for 5 Battle Stars on your way to Tier 100 and the Ice King skin. This will also get you closer to the very, very cool Prisoner skin which unlocks once you’ve completed 60 weekly challenges. That means every week before Week 9 and four more from this week.
