Greece holidays have long been a firm favourite with Brits looking for sun, sea and sand, along with a healthy dose of history and culture for good measure.

There's something for everyone, whether you're sticking to the mainland, thinking of a city break in capital Athens or wanting to explore the beautiful Greek islands.

Although it is a popular destination, and like most holiday spots prices do rise during school holiday dates, there are ways to find cheap packages as well as all-inclusive options.

Best time to go

Greece is a summer holiday destination for a reason - June, July and August are the best times to visit if you're after hot temperatures and heaps of sunshine.

If you're not tied to the school holidays, you might want to consider a trip in May or September when it's still sunny and warm but you won't have the peak season crowds.

Looking for cheap packages? Companies like TUI and Thomas Cook have holidays starting from under £200pp, while Jet2holidays offers low deposits from £60pp so you can spread the cost of your holiday.

These websites also often host sales and discounts, ranging from early bird offers to late deals.

For flight and hotel deals, easyJet Holidays and Expedia can be great sources as they tailor to wide range of budgets not to mention you can find various options for flight departures and the board basis of your trip.

Kids go Free

Tied to term time? If you have young children it's worth looking out for the free kids' places which can be found and could save you hundreds of pounds on a holiday.

For example, TUI has a Kids Go Free offer which includes the school holidays, whether you're opting for room only trips or going all-inclusive.

Thomas Cook also has free kids' places to a host of popular destinations such as Zante, Crete and Rhodes.

Of course if you can be more flexible with travel dates, there's never any harm in looking out for a late deal.

Late Deals

Websites such as Lastminute.com and TravelSupermarket can be great sources for comparing prices and finding budget-friendly flight and hotel packages.

TravelSupermarket also shows you the various price options on the days either side of your chosen dates in case you can be flexible and make that budget stretch further.

Where to find all-inclusive packages

You don't need to break the bank for all-inclusive holidays in Greece.

In fact, there are plenty of websites where you'll often find deals from low deposits to discounts during the school holidays.

First Choice has all-inclusive packages from £213pp, while also offering up last minute deals and often hosting discounts.

If you're on a budget, LoveHolidays has cheap packages and also offers low deposits from £25pp for those who need to spread the cost of their trip.
