Where to buy the viral knot pillow that everyone’s been lusting after

Every so often, social media's digital juggernaut throws up another inescapable trend.

Those powerful algorithms churn out post after post that strangely bear the same elements; most recently, it was the mini reservoir that is The Stanley cup, but interiors fiends will have noticed reams of checkered rugs in design posts. Eagle-eyed foodies will have noticed content makers rustling up recipes exclusively on HexClad pans - the honeycomb grid is a total giveaway. And don’t even get us started on giant LEGO tables.

It’s not just an example of the Baader-Meinhof effect, either (a cognitive bias where when you notice something new you suddenly begin to see it everywhere).

Klarna’s annual trend report has found the hottest products of the year (think of it as the shopping version of Spotify’s Wrapped) across fashion, beauty, and home, with knot pillows reigning supreme in the second half of the year.

Houseproud Brits have been buying them in their thousands, with a 363 per cent increase in sales in September 2023, coming in third to those coveted checked rugs and retro wavy mirrors.

Why such fanfare over a pillow that you can’t comfortably lay on? The appeal is clear: they’re easy to style - either on the bed or the sofa - and their tied-up look adds cosy texture to the room. Cushions are also an easy way for renters to put a stamp on their space without paying through the nose or jeopardising their contract: much easier to pack up cushions than having to repaint walls.

The OG design came from Icelandic designer Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir where the biggest design is also the priciest at £997 while the smallest goes for £148. Luckily, for every major trend birthed by a designer, there are hundreds of other tributes at far more wallet-friendly price tags.

We’ve rounded up the best knot cushions and pillows that won’t leave your finances looking shipwrecked.
