The new Premier League football for the 2021/22 season has been revealed.
Manufacturers Nike - ball suppliers for the Premier League since the 2000/2001 season - have today unveiled the latest 'Flight' ball design - and it's available to purchase now on their official website.
The design of the ball is said to be "honed over 8 years and 1,700 hours of testing". It contains "moulded grooves and a grippy texture" which are both said to "reduce unexpected movement".
While many's only concern will be what net it ends up in, others wanting to get their hands on it will have to shell out a rather eye-watering £124.95.
The history of Nike Premier League footballs
Premier League fans will remember Mitre as the first supplier of Premier League footballs.
Mitre released two ball designs before Nike took over as suppliers at the turn of Millennium: the Pro Max and the Ultimax.
Nike's first ball designs, the Geo Merlin and the Geo Merlin Vapor, were used between the 2000-01 and 2003-04 seasons.
After the Geo Merlin came the Total 90 and its rather minimalist circular design. The Total 90 and its subtle variations lasted seven seasons between 2004 and 2011.
Nike perhaps didn't have as much faith in their next designs which only lasted a season apiece: the Seitiro in the 2011/12 season, the Maxim in the 12/13 season, and the Incyte in the 13/14 season.
Between 2015 and 2018 was Ordem, versions 3, 4, and 5. The Merlin then lasted two seasons before the first Nike Flight was introduced ahead of the 2020/21 season.
