As we gear up for yet another summer of unforgettable women’s football, Nike has offered up a first look at the new Lionesses kits for 2025 – and is it just us, or do the designs somehow keep getting better?
The 2025 season marks the third time that a national kit has been designed specifically for the women’s team. Previously, the Lionesses wore the same designs as the men’s national team, and it was as recently as 2023 that feedback from the Lionesses themselves saw shorts changed from white to royal blue, so that the players could avoid frequent switches to darker garments when playing while on their periods.
No stranger to staying ahead of the curve, this year’s kits are nevertheless inspired by vintage designs. The gradient shifts in colour on the home kit have been implemented to honour the pioneers of the national team, who played throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Meanwhile, the fierce and bold design of the away kit has been designed to challenge traditional, familiar colour palettes. Plus, the modern, black silhouette works to emphasise other key features on the kit, like the bright blue numbers, crest and pops of colour along the sides.
Though we’ll have to wait until July to see our Lionesses play at the Euros in Switzerland, the Para Lionesses will debut the kit at the Deaf Futsal Championship in Italy in June. Plus, the women’s under-19s will also play in their new kits at the U19 Euros next month. The kit will be available to order from May 29.
