Where to buy PS5 as GAME, Currys, John Lewis and more major shops confirm stock

Shoppers are falling over themselves to pick up the new PlayStation 5, which officially launched in the UK today.

There are two versions available to buy -  Digital Edition for £349.99 and the version with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive for £449.99.

Many major retailers including Amazon, John Lewis and Currys have confirmed they would be getting more stock online for shoppers who those have not pre-ordered.

Amazon is expected to launch more consoles from midday. However, the retailer has also stressed that stock will be extremely limited.

The extremely high demand means it's likely there will be some very disappointed consumers.

Tesco, John Lewis and GAME websites have already experienced crashes this morning as fans scramble to buy consoles still available.

Shoppers have also been advised to not head to store as all available stock will only be available to purchase online.

Below is the latest updates on stock levels for all major retailers that we know so far:

  • Amazon - stock expected from 12pm midday but very limited

  • Currys - delayed restock as website crashed.

  • AO

  • Argos

  • John Lewis - confirmed stock has sold-out.

  • Very  - more stock expected 'soon', shoppers advised to regularly check the website for next drop.

  • GAME - website still down.

  • Smyths Toys - sold-out more stock expected in December.

Speaking about the release, Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said: “PS5 is a truly next-generation console representing the beginning of a new era for gaming. I’m thrilled for the new worlds that players will begin to experience today, and I’m equally excited for the lineup of games still to come for PS5 that will continue to propel the gameplay experience forward."

There are two versions of the console - the PS5 Digital Edition, which retails at £349.99, and the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, which is available for £449.99 (Sony)

Fans can expect next-generation gameplay thanks to a far more powerful console. The PS5 also features impressive 8k graphics support.

In June Sony unveiled the futuristic design, which comes with a black middle section and white panels on either side.

It also features blue lights and a combination of angular and rounded shapes adding to the contemporary look and feel.
