Where the most and least expensive homes have sold in the North East in recent months

The most and least expensive properties sold across the North East in the past few months have been revealed.

Between April and June, Northumberland was home to six of the top 10 priciest houses in our region, with the two most expensive selling for more than £1million.

Other properties with a high price tag to be snapped up were in areas including Gosforth, Consett and Sunderland.

At the other end of the scale, many of the cheapest homes were sold in the North East for as little as £19,000.

The latest Land Registry data comes as average house prices across the UK increased by 10% over the year to May 2021.

It's the highest annual growth rate the UK has seen since September 2007, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.

Reports from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors cite a strong demand for housing against a shortage of homeowners putting their properties on the market as one reason for the price hikes.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus pandemic has also forced some buyers to reassess their housing preferences, combined with the introduction of the stamp duty holiday.

So where exactly were the most and least expensive homes sold in the North East in the three months to June?
