Where the HOTTEST temperatures will be in the North East on Easter Saturday

The North East could be hotter than many European holiday hotspots as the temperatures soar on Easter Saturday.

It will be the first real taste of summer for the region, with temperatures set to peak above 20C in some parts.

The heat will continue throughout the Easter weekend too and could touch 21-22C, the Met Office say.

Met Office chief meteorologist Frank Saunders said: "Temperatures will continue to rise day-by-day and with the sun getting stronger at this time of year, it's going to feel warm or very warm across much of the country this Easter weekend."

But where will be the hottest on Saturday? And what times should you hold a BBQ to capitalise on the best temperatures?

Newcastle:

Temperatures range from 13-15C in the early morning but peak at 20 at 1pm.

The top temperature on Saturday is 21C, feeling like 19C in the wind, between 3-5pm.

If you are planning a late BBQ, temperatures look set to hold firm around remain in the mid-teens until 10-11pm.

Tynemouth

The Coast is always a popular destination when the sun comes out.

There will be wall-to-wall sunshine but if you're looking for the hottest weather, then the coast is not for you.

Temperatures peak at 17C at 6pm but with the sea breeze it is not expected to feel much more than 14-15C.

Kielder

If you're heading north into Northumberland, temperatures away from the immediate coastline.

The mercury will reach 20C at Kielder at 3-4pm but temperatures will drop off sharply in the evening, closer to 10C by 10pm.

Durham

Temperatures in Durham slightly cooler than Newcastle but still doing well, peaking at 20C between 2-5pm.

Sunderland

A good 5-6C cooler in Sunderland than further inland at Newcastle. Temperatures will peak at 16C at 6pm.
