Where Super Cup trophy ended the night revealed as Adrian gets Jurgen Klopp ticking off

Plenty of Liverpool's players got their hands on the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul after their shoot-out victory over Chelsea but it seemed inevitable that the trophy was only going to end the night (well morning given that the game didn't finish until after midnight local time) in one place.

Penalty hero Adrian took to social media to reveal that he was cuddling up under the covers to a beauty – in the shape of the Super Cup trophy – which he had placed upon a Spanish flag against his pillow on an Instagram post with the caption: “Good night!!”

The game completed a whirlwind week for the goalkeeper who had been back in his home city of Seville, training as a free agent after his contract at West Ham United expired.

However, on Monday August 5 it was revealed that Adrian had signed for Liverpool on a free transfer following Simon Mignolet's move to Club Brugge just hours after the Community Shield.

While the 32-year-old will have been expecting to merely be given an understudy role to established first choice Alisson , an injury to the Brazilian international in Liverpool's opening Premier League fixture at home to newly-promoted Norwich City, thrust him into action.

Having come off the bench against the Canaries, Adrian marked his full debut against Chelsea by saving Tammy Abraham's spot-kick to secure the Super Cup for the Reds.

Such was his delight that you could excuse the Andalusian custodian for getting carried away but being Liverpool's match-winning hero didn't prevent him from getting a ticking off from manager Jurgen Klopp .

The Reds boss cut Adrian's pitchside television interview short by whistling over to gain his attention and shouting: “Hey, come on. We play on Saturday!”

Come St Mary's at 3pm on August 17 and Adrian's feet might just have touched the ground again.
