Where Spurs' international stars are playing and the one big positive for Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham players will be jetting off across the globe over the next week with the second international break of the 2019/20 season now upon us.

The break has probably come at a good time for Mauricio Pochettino and his team after some disappointing results over the past few weeks.

Knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League Two side Colchester United, Spurs were then hit for seven against Bayern Munich in the Champions League before losing 3-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

The team really haven't been through a bad run of form like this during Pochettino's time at the club and they need to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.

While a handful of players, including Dele Alli and Eric Dier, will remain at Hotspur Way after missing out on international selection, the vast majority of the squad will be representing their countries and won't return until next week.

All top flight teams have limited time to prepare for their first game back after the international break but Pochettino should have a lot of his players back a fair few days ahead of the crucial Watford fixture.

Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Juan Foyth and Erik Lamela's international commitments will be over by Sunday, with Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Harry Winks playing their final England game 24 hours later.

Whereas in September Davinson Sanchez returned later in the week after playing for Colombia in the United States, the defender will only be playing in Spain and France this time.

However, Son Heung-min will once again be racking up the air miles as he faces games against Sri Lanka and North Korea, with the last of those taking place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Certainly not ideal preparation for Pochettino and Spurs given the importance of the Watford match, yet the positive he can take ahead of the clash is that he should have a decent amount of time with the vast majority of his squad on the training pitch.
