Where Should Kevin Durant Be Traded?

Kevin Durant has been the talk of the offseason lately, with rumors of his trade spreading like wildfire. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a big name make a move to another team, other than Luka, and fans are stoked to see where Kevin Durant ends up. With several potential organizations making bids for him, the trade deal has been in negotiation for quite some time now.

However, the NBA world received a significant update recently on the Pat McAfee Show, where it was disclosed that the deal could be finalized in the next few days. But before I jump into all the specifics, let’s break down what’s really going on.

Who Is Kevin Durant?

If we’re dedicating an entire piece just to his trade deal, the least I could do is include a bit about him. I’m sure almost all NBA fans already know the 36-year-old power forward for the Phoenix Suns (If you don’t, you’re probably living under a rock). With his incredible prowess on the court and distinguished record, he’s a hard player to miss.

Durant debuted in 2007 for the Seattle Supersonics, who would later become the Oklahoma City Thunder (of which Durant became the face), after which he received Rookie of the Year. In his 16 years of experience, he has won the NBA championship twice and has been the scoring champion four times. He’s currently on a contract worth $54.7 million, and to this day, he continues to impress fans. Now, let’s see what’s next for the future Hall of Famer.

Teams Involved In Trade Communications

As far as general interest goes, here are the teams looking to add KD to their arsenal:

  • Houston Rockets
  • San Antonio Spurs
  • Miami Heat
  • Minnesota Timberwolves
  • New York Knicks

However, out of all these, the one team that seems to be going elbows out for the Power Forward is Miami. They’re down to go all in for the Slim Reaper, with the next teams in line being Houston and the Timberwolves.

For now, the negotiations are still going on, as the Suns weigh out their offers. With each of these three teams having a lot to offer, the Phoenix Suns must think carefully about what they’re giving away and what they’ll receive in return. As far as I’ve seen, they’re considering trading him for new talent as well as draft compensation.

The Miami Heat has been trying its best to pick up KD, though. We’ve seen them struggling recently since they gave up Jimmy Butler at last year’s NBA Trade Deadline. Now, they want to bring in a new star player to build team morale and help synergize the team better.

While Miami could do a lot of good with the help of the slim reaper, I believe that the best pick for him will be the Minnesota Timberwolves. Given their aggressive play style and star power in Anthony Edwards, Durant will complete the team and give them a chance to get a ring. Given that they just lost the Western Conference Finals against OKC, they are looking to make some changes as well, and that’s where KD comes in.

That said, it seems like Miami is going to take this bidding war home, and we are probably going to see KD score threes in the Heat’s jersey
