'Where's Ozil?' - Arsenal fans react as William Saliba and Emile Smith Rowe start for Under 23s

Arsenal's first team may not be in action just yet after the international break.

But while Mikel Arteta's side are not in action until Sunday against Leeds, the Gunners' U23 side are playing today, taking on Everton's U23 side in Premier League 2.

And there are several big names in action for the Gunners as they face the Toffees, with Calum Chambers, Sokratis, William Saliba, Emile Smith Rowe and Folarin Balogun all starting for Arsenal's U23 side.

For Chambers and Smith Rowe, the fixture is a good opportunity for game time as they continue their recovery from injuries, while Saliba and Balogun have both been featuring at U23 level previously.

Sokratis is perhaps a surprise inclusion for some fans, with the Greek defender not featuring for the Arsenal first team yet this season and not registered for the Premier League or Europa League.

However, it is understood that Sokratis has accepted the opportunity to play for Arsenal's U23 side to maintain fitness ahead of the January transfer window.

Here's what Arsenal fans have been saying about the team.

Football.London understands that Mesut Ozil, like Sokratis, has also been offered the opportunity to play for Arsenal at U23 level, but has chosen not to.

The German midfielder, like Sokratis, has not been included in the Gunners' Premier League or Europa League squads, and has not featured for Arsenal since 1-0 win against West Ham in March.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has recently spoken about Ozil's situation at the club, adding that he is hurt and sad by his current absence from the first team picture, although he has not closed the door to a return.
