Where's Laura Whitmore? Fans bemused over star's 'lack of screen time' in Love Island

Love Island host Laura Whitmore has only appeared on the ITV2 show for just under 12 minutes so far, it has been revealed.

Wicklow native and mum-of-one Laura entered the villa for the launch show on Monday, June 28 when she paired up the original Islanders, but since then viewers have hardly seen her.

There has been 950 minutes of footage shown from the villa so far across 14 episodes.

Instead, the majority of the drama - including the dumps and new arrivals - has been read out by Islanders after they receive a text.

Fans have been surprised why Love Island host Laura hasn't been shown more.

The 36-year-old Irish woman has been on screen for 11 minutes and 51 seconds — or just 1.3 per cent of the programme, the Sun reports.

One posted online: "Where is Laura Whitmore though? I feel like, ‘When have we seen her?'"

Another said: “Is Laura Whitmore in this series? Like, at all? They just keep sending texts.”

A third person added: "Also why doesn’t Laura Whitmore come and announce who’s leaving… would make more sense #LoveIsland."

On Wednesday afternoon Laura appeared to be enjoying some downtime with her baby daughter and shared a video from the Van Gogh Alive Exhibition in London.

She captioned the clip: "Sensory fun at @vangoghaliveuk #vangoghalivelondon," as her young daughter took in the colourful surroundings.

Laura also appeared to be soaking up some rays in Kensington Gardens as she also shared a selfie as she sat in a deck chair and soaked up the sun before filming some ducks by the water.

Laura's husband Iain Stirling once again provides the commentary for Love Island, but it was confirmed that he would be doing so from London throughout the 2021 series.

ITV have explained that the show host doesn't appear in every episode as has happened in recent series.

An ITV spokesman told the Sun: “It is very standard of Love Island to see the host appear sporadically.

"As with recent series, the host doesn’t appear in every episode.”

The Mirror has contacted a representative for Laura asking for comment.
