'Where's Jetro?' - Newcastle United fans react to Florian Lejeune's return and defender's absence

Florian Lejeune makes his long-awaited return to the delight of Newcastle United fans against Crystal Palace.

But Magpies supporters have been left puzzled by the surprise absence of Jetro Willems.

United will be looking to extend their seven-game unbeaten run at St James' Park against the Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

Fans will be hoping the team can put behind the disappointing defeat at Burnley last time out and recapture the form which saw them record four victories in their previous six Premier League matches.

Martin Dubravka unsurprisingly keeps his place in goal, and will be shielded by a back three of Federico Fernandez, Fabian Schar, and Lejeune, who makes his return in the same fixture he picked up the devastating knee injury against in April.

Javier Manquillo keeps his place on the right flank, while Paul Dummett looks likely to deputise on the left in the absence of Willems.

Jonjo Shelvey returns to partner Isaac Hayden in the centre, with Miguel Almiron also recalled to the starting eleven with Andy Carroll and Joelinton in attack.

The announcement of the line-up drew praise from supporters on social media, who were delighted to see Lejeune return but wondering why Willems had missed out on the matchday squad entirely.
