A blanket of thick coastal fog known as "haar" has engulfed Edinburgh, and the weather is expected to remain for the rest of Saturday.
One Edinburgh local posted a picture taken from Wardie Bay in Granton showing how thick the haar was at the shore leaving Fife invisible.
But that didn't deter some hardy free-swimmers who were seen stripping off before running into the water despite the poor visibility.
Helen Milburn posted the images on Twitter, saying: "Just to prove that Edinburgh isn't always beautiful skies and greenery. Fife is gone."

The Met Office predicts the fog will last well into Saturday evening with very poor visibility throughout.
More mist is predicted for early on Sunday, with some chance the sun could break through alongside rain showers.
