It was a 318-mile round trip to the North East but unfortunately Notts County could not put on a performance to match the fantastic support shown by the travelling Magpies faithful.

Whilst a cold, windy night in Gateshead may not be appealing for most, it did not deter 598 Notts fans making the trip to the Gateshead International Stadium on what was another frustrating result on the road.

And it was confirmed that Notts' away attendance was the second highest across the National League fixtures for away supporters, with Wrexham taking 1,852 fans to watch their 2-0 defeat to Chesterfield, the Magpies' opponents on Saturday.

Both Southend United and Torquay had eight-hour round trips to face Bromley and Halifax Town respectively, with Torquay taking 274 fans to watch their side lose 1-0 to Bromley, while Southend fans' 456-mile round trip was rewarded with a goalless draw.

Aldershot also took 250 fans to Meadow Park to see their side come away 2-1 victors against Boreham Wood.

Meadow Lane can expect a bumper crowd away following as Paul Cook's Chesterfield make the short trip down the M1 to watch the Spirerites take on the Magpies in a 5:20pm kick-off.
