Where North East celebrities headed first as bars and restaurants re-opened indoors

Just like many other Brits, a host of celebrities enjoyed some food and drinks in the warmth as bars and restaurants opened for indoor business following another major easing of restrictions on Monday.

May 17 marked a big step out of lockdown as hospitality businesses, as well as cinemas, theatres, indoor play areas were allowed to open inside for the first time in months.

People enjoying themselves in Newcastle described the scenes on Monday as being 'like Christmas' with a number of venues seeing queues outside at midnight as they became the first in the city to serve customers indoors.

And you may have seen a famous face or two if you were about town or elsewhere in the UK as singers and reality TV stars took full advantage of the bars re-opening.

Perrie Edwards

Fresh from announcing her pregnancy and Little Mix's historic Brit Awards win, Perrie, while not on home turf headed out to The Ivy, for what looked like a very fancy afternoon tea.

Her dining companion even joked that she got to have more prosecco due to the fact that South Shields singer Perrie is expecting, with her making the announcement a few weeks ago that she was pregnant with her and footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's first child.

Scarlett Moffatt

Former Gogglebox star and I'm A Celebrity winner Scarlett was full of praise for the food she and other half Scott Dobinson tucked into as they headed to Tomahawk steak house in Yarm for a date night as restrictions eased.

The 30-year-old also took great excitement she was getting ready to go 'out out.'

Marty McKenna

While many pubs and bars in Newcastle re-opened on Monday, one of the city's newest haunts was welcoming customers for the first time.

Situated at the top of the striking Hadrian's Tower development in the city centre, 3SIXTY is the penthouse bar that offers stunning views of the area.

And former Geordie Shore star Marty shared the steak he was served at its opening night, along with some of the views from his table, with landmarks including the Discovery Museum clearly visible.

Sophie Kasaei and Abbie Holborn

Sticking with Geordie Shore stars, after paying a visit to the gym, Sophie joined her friend and former cast member Abbie on a night out in Leeds.

During their night out, which both girls documented on their Instagram stories, the girls and their friends headed to well known Leeds hotspots Fibre and The Dollhouse.

Vicky Pattison

Another ex-Geordie Shore star and another Geordie celeb not actually in Newcastle for the bars-reopening, Vicky headed to sophisticated spot Smiths of Wapping to raise a glass to restrictions loosening.

Sharing a picture of her grasping a cocktail on her Instagram, Vicky, who lives down south with boyfriend Ercan Ramadan, wrote: "Happy May 17th everyone. So bloody happy to be back indoors- especially on a night like tonight!!!

"And, I went for a strawberry daiquiri... just to be safe

"Hope you’re all enjoying tonight... You all deserve it."
