Where Newcastle United sit in Premier League table affected by VAR decisions

Newcastle United have been affected by the introduction VAR just like every Premier League side but now it has been revealed how that has changed the table.

There have been several instances this season which have seen the Magpies impacted by VAR, but the negative results have not really been felt on Tyneside.

Newcastle have largely avoided the mass controversy which has surrounded the introduction of VAR this season but that's not to stay that Steve Bruce's have escaped the delays.

Harry Kane had a penalty claim turned down by VAR earlier this season which helped Newcastle win 1-0 at Tottenham.

In other games VAR has been frequently used to uphold decisions on the field such as Isaac Hayden's red card against Leicester, while the same can be said of Sean Longstaff's sending off against Wolves.

It's unsurprising, therefore, that in a table showing the amount of points Newcastle would have without VAR that they still have twelve.

It's not the case across the board, though, with Wolves having been the worst affected with four points less because of VAR.

Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Southampton, meanwhile, have been the biggest beneficiaries with three extra points each.
