Where Newcastle United's chase for Joe Willock stands with personal terms still not agreed

Newcastle United are yet to strike a deal with Joe Willock - despite having their bid for the midfielder accepted on Sunday.

The £25million package was thrashed out between the two clubs after Newcastle made it clear they wanted clarity on the situation.

Indeed, as the Gunners dragged their feet, Newcastle took a look at alternatives and Carles Perez's name of AS Roma has surfaced this afternoon.

But talks with Willock - which have now been ongoing for three days - have yet to result in a deal.

As reported this morning on Chronicle Live, Willock and his father Charles, who is representing the 21-year-old is looking for a deal that would make him one of the club's top earners.

With the Magpies initially hopeful that the Willock deal could be completed before 12pm on Friday, the deadline for him to be registered in time to face West Ham United at St James' Park, the club are now waiting for further dialogue and the player has been spotted back at Arsenal's training ground.
