Where is Zoe Ball? DJ's absence from Radio2 Breakfast show explained

Radio 2 Breakfast Show host, Zoe Ball, was missing from her popular show on Monday, January 30, leaving her millions of listeners wondering where she could be. And it seems she may not be back for a few days at least.

Instead Vernon Kay stepped in for Zoe, who this year will celebrate her fourth year in the breakfast time slot from 6.30am-9.30am. The regular host tweeted early in the day: "So I’ve got covid…

“But good news is ya man @vernonkay is looking after y’all @BBCRadio2,” she added with a Face with Medical Mask emoji. Zoe, 52, was inundated with support on Twitter as she shared an update about her ill health and thanked Vernon for saving the day last minute.

She did add that she hoped she'd be "back soon". Her fellow Radio 2 presenter Rylan Clark sent a message of support saying: "Noooooooooo,” while musician Tom Bertram wrote: “Feel better soon.”

Vernon, who has stepped in when Zoe has been unwell before, also informed his followers of the schedule change. “Couple of mornings on @BBCRadio2 coming up!!” Vernon revealed. “Get well quickly @ZoeTheBall 5am wake up’s play havoc with the eye bags!!" joked the star, before adding to Radio 2's listeners "See you tomorrow from 6.30AM."

Zoe took over the slot from Chris Evans back in 2019 and has since become a favourite with regular slots like Friends Round Friday, the 7.33 and the QI Elves. For more TV and showbiz stories, subscribe to our newsletter here.
