Where is UGA in Kirk Herbstreit’s top six?

College football analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his top six last night after Georgia defeated the Missouri Tigers. The LSU Tigers were the most impressive team in college football this week with an ultra-rare road victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Was Georgia’s effort enough to land in Kirk Herbstreit’s top six? Here’s where he ranked the Dawgs:

Georgia should be the number four team in the country. The debate will be between Georgia and Alabama. The Crimson Tide have a better loss, but haven’t won any games against teams currently in the twenty-five.

Georgia’s victories are impressive enough to overshadow the defeat to South Carolina when comparing the Bulldog’s resume to that of Oregon, Utah, Alabama and Oklahoma. Georgia sports two top fifteen wins over Notre Dame and Florida.

Looking at Herbstreit’s rankings, the CFP Committee should agree completely with his top four. With wins over Texas, Auburn, Alabama and Florida, the LSU Tigers deserve the number one ranking. Ohio State has blown out each team they’ve faced and have quality wins over Wisconsin and Cincinnati, but the quality of their wins isn’t as impressive as LSU’s. The Buckeyes should check in at number two.

Clemson deserves the number three slot after coasting to a win over the NC State Wolfpack. The Tigers had a close call with UNC, but have been rock solid since that game. Clemson does play in a weak ACC.

My top six is in the order: LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, and Utah. Even though Minnesota is undefeated, the Gophers are not sustainable. They are 5-0 in one score games including close calls against: South Dakota State, Georgia Southern, Purdue, Fresno State, and now Penn State. The Gophers will lose at either Iowa or in their home finale against Wisconsin.
