Where is UFC Fight Island? Full details as location confirmed for four events in July

Yas Island in Abu Dhabi has been announced as the location for the UFC's Fight Island.

The MMA promotion will stage four shows on the island, which includes an arena, hotel, training facilities, and dining establishments, in July.

Dana White and the UFC had been looking for a venue outside of America to host fights since the coronavirus pandemic suspended the majority of sport worldwide.

Yas Island will host shows on July 11, 15, 18 and 25, including UFC 251 which will feature three world title fights.

"Everything will happen on the island," White said on the UFC's Facebook page. "Nobody will leave the island.

"They're going to have their own private training quarters where people can train themselves.

"We really do have an Octagon (for training) out in the sand. The infrastructure's going to be unbelievable. The people in Abu Dhabi do everything right."

The three championship fights at UFC 251 will be headlined by the welterweight bout between challenger Gilbert Burns and champion Kamaru Usman.

HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Our partnership with the UFC, now in its second year, has proved to be one of our most successful ventures in recent years. Thanks to their commitment and cooperation, we are proud to announce that Abu Dhabi will host the first ever “Fight Island” event, marking the long-awaited return of UFC fights to the global stage.”

The UFC postponed several events scheduled between March and May due to the coronavirus outbreak, which has killed over 110,800 people in the U.S.

The promotion resumed action without fans present on May 9 in Florida.
