Where is the Queen Mother's final resting place – who else is buried there?

The Queen who passed away on Thursday, September 8, will be given a state funeral on Monday, September 19.

After four days of lying-in-state at Westminster Hall, when the public will get to pay their respects, the Queen will be moved to Windsor Castle for burial at the historic St George’s Chapel.

She will be buried alongside her beloved mother, the Queen Mother, who passed away peacefully at the age of 101 in March 2002.

The Queen Mother's final resting place is also where several other monarchs and members of the Royal Family have been buried. Here's everything you need to know.

The Queen Mother lived a long life, passing away at the age of 101 in March 2002.

Following her funeral at Westminster Abbey, she was interred at the King George VI Memorial Chapel next to her husband at St George's Chapel.

The historic chapel, which was completed in 1528 has seen several royal weddings and burials, and has been described as a place of worship for the Royal Family as well as the local community.

The Royal website reads: "Built by kings, shaped by the history of the Royal Family and still the location for both splendid Royal events and private family moments, find out more about this most Royal of chapels."

It will also be the final resting place for Queen Elizabeth II after her funeral on Monday, September 19.

Queen Elizabeth II will be buried alongside her parents King George VI and the Queen Mother, who have been interred.

The chapel also houses the ashes of the Queen's younger sister, Princess Margaret.

It is the final resting place for several other monarchs including Henry VIII, Charles I, George V, and George VI.

The remains of Prince Philip. who passed away aged 99 last April, is currently interred in the Royal Vault, which is underneath St George's Chapel.

He will be moved to the King George VI Memorial Chapel at St George's to be buried alongside his wife.
