Where is The Harbour Cafe? Popular Scottish restaurant features in BBC series

LAST year, a popular Scottish café featured on the BBC show The Hairy Bikers Go Local.

In the documentary, Hairy Bikers Si King and Dave Myers visit a number of locations across the UK in a bid to bring together local restaurants and suppliers.

Although the show first aired in January 2023, it has been broadcast once again on BBC Two this week, with Friday night's repeat seeing the two chefs travel to Fife.

As such, many have been left wanting to know more about The Harbour Café - one of the places the pair visit in the episode.

Where is The Harbour Café?

The café can be found in Fife, specifically in the village of Elie and is run by Jack and Amy Elles.

According to the restaurant’s website, it is known for serving “a selection of freshly caught and expertly prepared local seafood & produce”.

The website also explains: “We are passionate about using first class local ingredients and creating food which is good for the soul.”

What kind of food do they serve?

The menu varies depending on what the boats bring in on a day-to-day basis.

However, according to VisitScotland, “this can include lobster, langoustine and crab” while the menu also boasts “rustic homemade chips, sausage rolls & Forfar bridies, daily soups & stews”.

When it is open, the restaurant also operates as a takeaway.

When is the restaurant open?

Sadly, anyone wanting to enjoy the delightful food on offer is going to have to wait a little while as The Harbour Café is only open in the summer months.

In the documentary, The Hairy Bikers explain that the restaurant is built up and then taken back down again once the summer ends.

According to VisitScotland, it is open Thursday to Sunday in April, May, June & September.
